Osteoporosis….and you thought it was just for women

Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment

osteoporosis-1Patients will find that chiropractic care for hip and knee osteoarthritis can help reduce inflammation, improve joint functioning, reduce pain, and strengthen the muscles around the affected joints.

Osteoarthritis in the knee and hip areas can be a very painful injury, and one that is often a chronic condition if left untreated. Chiropractic care for hip osteoarthritis and knee osteoarthritis can be very helpful for patients who have been unable to find relief from the pain in any other way.

Signs of hip osteoarthritis and knee osteoarthritis include an increasing level of pain in the hip area that may extend into the groin area, pain shooting down the thighs, and pain in the knee joints. It is not uncommon for the knees to be the first place the pain is felt, and some patients may not notice the hip pain until later. The pain often increases when the weather is colder, or when the patient is engaged in physical activity like jogging or walking.

Chiropractors use very gentle spinal adjustments to place the spinal column in proper alignment, which has a positive effect on the hip joints that are connected to the spine. While hip and knee osteoarthritis is not curable at this time, it is very much manageable with the help of chiropractic care.

Knee osteoarthritis can also be managed very effectively with the help of chiropractic care. The treatments for both knee and hip osteoarthritis may be similar, and can include stretching, massage, gentle manipulation of any painful joints, and the use of ultrasound for healing.

Conditions & Symptoms

First Sought Relief from Orthopedist

“When I first came to see Dr. Hawn my problem was pain and stiffness with limited range of motion in my spine. It initially began in the 70s and I remember that the first attack was severe and debilitating.

I initially went to an orthopedist specialist who recommended massage and therapy. That didn’t work so later I attended a “Pain Clinic” recommended by a family physician. My results were limited and the pain continued on for years.

The Results

Since beginning care with Dr. Hawn my results have been excellent and exciting! Besides the high quality of care, I trust Dr. Hawn and his staff and now my daughter is a regular patient of his as well.”

Auto Accident Whiplash

“My treatment with Dr. Hawn has been awesome!

I was involved in an auto accident where I was hit from behind and experienced soreness in my neck and lower back.  I went to 3 doctors; Dr#1 at Urgent Care (who simply evaluated me and referred me to my personal physician), Dr#2 (seen twice and all I received was a neck brace), and then Dr#3 who finally suggested x-rays.  He literally glanced at them and prescribed P.T. at local center.

The P.T. mainly concentrated on EMS (electric muscle stimulation) with light tissue massage. After 2weeks, I was not getting better, and personally did not like their approach.

I finally came across Dr. Hawn.  During our initial consult I felt for the first time, someone actually cares about my well-being!  He took the time to get to know ME; my past physical history, and thoroughly understand the pain I was feeling.  He also requested to see my x-rays.  He took a broad approach to healing.  Well, after evaluating all the information, I met with him again and he explained in detail while pointing out where the pain was originating and devised a plan for treatment.  This is exactly what I needed!

The treatment was successful and I am still pain free.  All those previous doctors could definitely learn from Dr. Hawn’s approach!

Thank you Dr. Hawn!”

Sharp Pain in the Low Back

“I was first referred to Dr. Chris Hawn by a fellow worker. I had sharp pain in my low back and that was being caused by lifting, tugging and pulling. My pain started to get very severe to the point where it became hard to get up from a seated position or in and out of my car.

Currently, I have had very good results in the fact that there is much less discomfort and generally no pain, just a few aches in the morning until I get lumbered up. I’m 71 years young and have tried to learn not to push myself to do things that are not good for my back!”
